Thanks to the release of the popular Netflix documentary Seaspiracy, attention on overfishing and plastic pollution in the ocean has led to awareness on ocean health. The average omnivore consumes around 8,200 cans of tuna in their lifetime, which is the equivalent of 1,172 skipjack tuna fish. If one consumer avoids or replaces one can of tuna, it equates to saving seven fish per year per individual. Small changes can create a significant impact.
It’s time you try swimming in the vegan seafood pool. Vegan seafood is touted to be the next big thing in the alternative protein market. And, with an ever-increasing number of vegan seafood options coming to market, you can still enjoy familiar dishes while helping to save our oceans at the same time.
Here are some brands our members love that we encourage you to try for yourself. When you do, don’t forget to review them on abillion.

The Fishless Filets are coated in tempura batter, contain omega-3 and no cholesterol and 9 grams of plant-based protein per serving. abillion member @Zetaolivia writes, “This was really good, tastes just like fish to me, but minus the gross fishy smell! Dipped it in vegan mayo and it was very nostalgic.”

Good Catch has a wide range of vegan seafood products, including New England Style Plant-Based Crab Cakes, Thai Style Plant-Based Fish Cakes, and Classic Style Plant-Based Fishless Burgers. Their Plant-Based Tuna is one of the most popular fishless products with abillion members.
Good Catch's products are made with a six-legume blend of peas, chickpeas, lentils, soy, fava and navy beans; this makes them high in protein. This unique mixture also helps the products mimic the texture and flakiness of seafood.
“These were pretty good, had a very similar taste and texture of a fish cake,” says abillion member @sp83 about Good Catch’s Thai Style Plant-Based Fish Cakes. Good Catch products are available in Canada, Europe, UK and the USA.
