I'm so happy I got to try one more puff tart flavor before my Vegan East closed! This one has delicate cinnamon apple slices on top with a vanilla icing. It's filled with delicious, sweet apple jam. There's just a hint of cinnamon that I could detect. It complimented the apple flavor so well. I love how flakey these pastries are. The uptown Vegan East location closed this weekend and I'm so sad! It was such a nice place to grab a little treat or a delicious bowl of soup during my morning walks. @jonok and I went for brunch one last time. We ate breakfast sandwiches and soup there and took some desserts home. This cake jar is such a fun way to present cake. The peanut butter frosting was probably my favorite part. It was light, which was needed to balance out the chocolate cake. It's kinda weird that Vegan East only just now added breakfast sandwiches! Their savory options up until this point were more lunch-y. They now have two breakfast sandwich options and biscuits & gravy. This sandwich has JUST Egg and Chao cheese. What looks like gravy is an incredible creamy pesto sauce with sundried tomatoes. The biscuit that holds the sandwich together is so fresh, but unexpectedly soft. I was surprised it held together while I was eating it! This was $10 and included a side of fresh fruit. I was happy to see a bunch of new cupcake flavors at Vegan East this weekend! About half of them were fruity flavors, perfect for summer. This orange flavor caught my attention. I really loved that there was some orange flavor in the cake itself. The frosting and the orange gummy weren't my favorite, but it was still a nice treat. I'm so glad Vegan East added pufftarts to their menu! They're so flaky and delicious! I really liked this chocolate version. They only had frozen ones so I toasted mine when I got home for a few minutes. This is one of my favorite things that I've gotten from Vegan East! This pastry is so flakey and airy! The strawberry jam was delicious and so sweet. I hope they keep making these. It was exciting seeing a new sandwich on the Vegan East menu! The new location in South Minneapolis doesn't have sandwiches so I was worried they'd try to phase them out of my home location, but adding new items is promising! This grilled cheese was so goey and I really appreciated the addition of the sun dried tomatoes. Pesto is always a great addition to tomatoes, and it felt like it was at the right ratio. Just a hint of pesto and not overpowering. It does feel silly spending $11 on a grilled cheese, but Vegan East sandwich prices tend to be a bit higher than they're worth. Eating at Vegan East really makes a difference! I've had their sandwiches plenty of times before, but they never maintained their crispiness on the walk home. This time the bread was nice and firm, and the fillings were hot! The pesto isn't strong in this sandwich, so it still paired nicely with my cheddar broccoli soup. I love that they use Herbivorous Butcher turkey! The tomato and spinach are appreciated to break up the meat and cheese monotony. This is one of my favorite soups! This was the first time I've eaten inside Vegan East instead of taking it home. The soup was a lot thicker this time and was perfect after a cold winter walk. This soup is ridiculously cheesy. It's best dipped with some bread, but I just used my whole sandwich. I love the homey atmosphere inside Vegan East. It's pretty bare bones while still being cozy. It's often a stop on my walks to pick up a cupcake or ice cream sandwich, but I do love getting lunch when I can.
