Review of Plant-Based Dim Sum Platter at EMPRESS by atozee

Vegetarian dim sum or dumplings are of course by no means new but so few places are as plush as Empress — which means it was the perfect spot for afterwork drinks or with vegan friends who’ve never had dim sum in their lives and for whom stepping into a proper dim sum spot might feel intimidating. There’s little to pick apart here, as of course, being vegan means the usuals like har gow are entirely off limits. Still, the selection is satisfying and the platter I ordered gave enough of a sampler. Could it be better? It’s hard to gauge as I haven’t had much dim sum in the same category that uses alternative meats. Where it delivered though was in presentation and sound know-how of the different doughs and skins that make dim sum so wonderful. Hands down would return.
