I would have liked a bit more toffee sauce so the pudding was completely covered, but apart from that a really nice dessert. The caramel ice cream was a nice change from a vanilla.

Really tasty kebab dish. I think they talked up the "Israeli" salad which was just onion, tomato and cucumber. Restaurant is "almost" vegan they only seem to serve eggs on the brunch menu and dairy milk as an option in hot drinks. Would love for them to take that last step.

It was expecting more of like a tart tatin which would be filled with artichoke so was a bit disappointed with the three slivers. Still very tasty though.

What I like at The Gate is that they are very creative with the dishes. This is a new addition to their menu, Layers of aubergine with chedda vegan cheese, pesto, roasted red peppers and tomatoes, layers of potatoes and kale with horseradish cream. Delicious and beautiful.

I am giving 5 stars to this dish because it is incredible. I always order the same dish every time I go to the gate. They always add new dishes, but this one is always in the menu and in my opinion is their best dish. It is a risoto cake , I imagine it is grilled in a pan to create a crisp exterior. It come in a bath of mushroom sauce with truffle ( the most incredible thing ) with grilled mushroom and rocket on top. Nothing close to a boring rissoto. It is a must try with you go to The Gate.

Pea protein strips in BBQ sauce and coleslaw with gochujang dressing (spice dressing , like harissa). I love bun, but I don't like spice dressing. It is good the the dressing comes separate. It was delicious. Definitely would have it again.

It is a beautiful starter. I was so impressed by the colour. It is pressed multi seeds crumble, orange and wholegrain mustard vinaigrette (if you like mustard you will love this) with a beetroot mascarpone mousse on top and beets crisp to decorate. It is a cold dish. Beautiful and full.of flavour. I always order it when I go to this restaurant.

The Gate are a restaurant advocating for veggie and plant based dining since 1989. They have a few branches in London and this one in Islington has a kind of rustic former pub vibe with high ceilings and an open kitchen. This sticky toffee pudding was beautiful, with popcorn, honeycomb ice cream and caramel sauce. Since sticky toffee pudding is very sweet, this was an appropriate portion size if not larger than needed for one person but definitely perfect for 2 to share. This dish was £7, very fair and good value for dessert! #dessert #icecream
