First up: it's great to see that Prive serves vegan vanilla ice cream by default. That said it tasted more like soy than vanilla. I usually love dark chocolate but the brownie too was too flour-y for my liking. The kid literally sampled this and went on to make marbling art from this melting dessert (swipe ⬅️ to see it) rather than eat it - which really says it all.

It's been YEARS since I'd had Prive's vegan carrot cake and while I don't recall being wowed by it previously, this was severely underwhelming. The 'cream cheese' was less dense and too watery, the cinnamon spice was just mild, and this was less packed with raisins and carroty bits than I liked. And of course it was just too sweet. Shall continue to be on the lookout for a properly good carrot cake.

Available only as part of the weekday lunch special and not an ala carte item. This nori-topped bowl of maple-miso glazed tofu (sounds fancier than it is), avocado encrusted with black and sesame seeds (yum), cherry tomatoes, pickled carrots, green onions, edamame, purple cabbage, cucumbers and brown rice with roasted sesame was well put together, but nothing too particularly memorable. Minus points for the discernable stale smell of dampness in the 'fresh' purple cabbage veggies - a dead giveaway that the veggies weren't just rinsed and had been left for some time.

Taste-wise this was really good: well-seasoned plant 'chicken' and sesame oil rice. Be sure to ask for the vegan version (with texturised soy) since Prive serves up two versions of this: actual chicken rice and #veganfriendly 'chicken' rice. This #crueltyfree dish however wasn't really meant to be - a tiny fly was darting around on our table savouring unwiped remnants and the kid and I were trying to gently wave it away. Upon serving this dish and noticing what we were doing the staff abruptly smacked the fly away (and probably killed it). 😔 RIP, wrong place, wrong time.

Plus points for the presentation with orange slice for extra zest. This isn't the worst canned soda out there, but I'm biased because I love real ginger and this synthetic-tasting ginger drink obviously isn't going to come anywhere near close. 🫢

Generous plate of 'steamed chicken', which was described in the menu as being soy-based but resembled seitan to me. The texture wasn't quite like the real deal but the flavour certainly was! Topped with some cucumber slices as well. 🍗🥒 The 'chicken' rice was fragrant and I appreciated the fact that white rice could be swapped to brown rice. 🍚 Served with vegetable broth alongside housemade chilli, ginger, and dark soya sauce. 🌶️🫚 Overall impressively tasty and relatively similar to what I remember Hainanese chicken rice to be, albeit very oily. Usually topped with poached eggs, the vegan version of this toast came with cumin-lime spiced roasted chickpeas. Loved how crunchy and aromatic the chickpeas were (kinda like kacang putih ahaha). Small cup of a baby-friendly version of cappuccino; caffeine-free since it was without the espresso. 👶🏻☕ Didn't seem to have a dusting of cocoa powder or cinnamon like I would have expected, so visually and taste-wise this was basically steamed hot milk with a frothy layer ahaha. 🥛 Appreciated that there was a choice of soy, oat, or almond milk available, but otherwise I wouldn't recommend it.
