I'm quite a regular here but this is the first time I've actually sat outside on their leafy and verdant patio 😌 It's less tranquil than it looks/sounds because just the other side of this camera is a main road 😏 The #pandan #latte was a treat for the tastebuds as much as for the camera. I never would've thought that those two made for such a good #fusion beverage. It's a RM4 top-up for mylk, and I chose oat on this occasion 🙂 Here's the less happy part of the story: I'd exhausted the vegan options on the menu and thought I'd go look at the bakery section. It turns out that as part of their menu revamp, in addition to all the new meaty items that they're using to crowd out the vegan ones (literally, because the new design indicates vegetarian but not vegan anymore), they've also switched to a full dairy range in the bakery. Talk about retrograde steps and being on the wrong side of history 😪

Says vegetarian in the name but their entire vegetarian section is veganisable by removal of the egg, which #tomyam anyway doesn't/shouldn't have 😏 You get flat #ricenoodles, mixed vegetables (#babycorn, #carrot slices, something green), #oystermushroom, Kanteen's exquisite #friedtofu, and waaay too much #coriander 😖 It is overall sour and satisfying, like tom yam should be. I drank the soup dry even after finishing off the noodles, which I rarely do! 😊

I love the glass jars that Kanteen serves their #icedcoffee in 🤩 And with paper straws too 👏🙌 I'm generally a black coffee devotee and I'm only doing this for the reviews, so I can't really comment on the quality of the #mocha 😅 They charge an extra RM4 to switch the dairy milk to either almond, soy, or #oatmilk (which this was). I'm hugely sympathetic to F&B businesses who have to pass the additional costs on, especially at a time like now, and feel really guilty about shooting the messenger by calling them out here 😔 But you do need to know that this will take the price of your coffee up to the giddy heights of RM 18 😱 Apologies for the egg in the background which my significant omnivore was having; I've already cropped the shot as much as I could without slicing the straw off 🙇‍♂️ #ditchdairy

Never been a big fan of #cappuccino, or of anything in general which involves adding milk to #coffee (sacrilegious really 😒). Got this just to bank an extra review here 😛 Plaudits for the paper straw, the RM4 extra charge for oat milk is not so cool (the coffee itself only cost RM11 so we're talking about a 36% markup 🥺)

Nice surprise. Was quite tasty maybe not 'cheesy' enough. I feel like they used chashew and nutritional yeast but no vegan cheese. Nice amount of tempeh and gave a heap of dried mushrooms as I requested for extra. Portion could have been bigger for the price.

Ordered nasi lemak because I didn’t have time to cook. So these foods are plated and staged due to esthetic reasons 🤪 I like how the nasi smells lemony (?)and how the rendang taste distinct, however I prefer SALA’s nasi lemak rendang though. This comes with boiled egg, but I think you just have to put a note if you don’t want it. Last picture is for all those plastics come for this meals. Not so proud of this. 😔

After having sampled pretty much the rest of their vegan menu, I finally got round to Kanteen's claim to vegan fame - the #macandcheese 🤭 Fwiw while the fried #oystermushroom and spiced #tempeh were both exquisite and #veganin2020 loveable, I thought the no-cheese sauce was a little down on flavour, even if texture was still spot-on. A good option, but a clear second to the Sprout mac and cheese with its complex spice blend (That review is coming soon I promise, clearly struggling with my abv backlog here 😂) NB. Also available as a cook-at-home kit.

It's RM4 on top of RM13 to have this delightful #chocolate drink with #oatmilk 🙌 I like the glass jug plus paper straw too. Yasss one of the best vegan nasi lemak options in this city 🙌🙌 Remember to specify the vegan option (they'll leave out the egg). The rendang was a bit too sweet with the galangal taste a touch too dominant, and it comes with soy chunks rather than mushroom. Fried tofu was good, as ever. What clinched it for me were the sambal and the kacang goreng though - never deviate too far from tradition! 😉 #veganisnotscary #nasilemak #malaysianeats

I love these cute glass jars in which they serve their drinks 😍 They offer soy or almond milk (+RM4) with all their coffee/tea options. Using almond here gave it a sweet, creamy base for the matcha. Very satisfying! #veganisnotscary #matcha
