Despite being quite processed and looking very much like an unappealing can of dog food this was actually… good? And the ingredients were surprisingly simple and somewhat natural? Just wheat protein, peanuts, onion, salt, and some vitamins thrown in. I couldn’t believe it. The presentation is horrendously off-putting but once you slice it up into discs it starts resembling something more like burger patties. I tested air-frying a disc on its own without any seasoning added and it’s actually delicious by itself and crisps up wonderfully. It is satiating because of the seitan and also gives a fatty, slightly peanutty aftertaste. I crushed the rest with a fork to make a mince and padded it out with some carrot and other vegetables as this is quite high in fat and it made some delicious rissoles which worked well both pan-fried and air-fried. You can technically eat this straight from the can but it’s better jazzed up a bit. It was $6 for just one can so I feel like it’s best to pad this out as a meatloaf or something to make it last a couple of meals and be more economical.
