2 vegan poached eggs doused in hollandaise sauce served on sourdough with spinach and choice of one topping. These housemade vegan poached eggs are almost legendary in Sydney. I appreciated the effort made by the eatery (a non-vegan eatery no less), and the eggs looked quite cute. The white had quite a soft texture and was filled with semi-runny yolk. However, I personally found the taste a bit of a letdown, as it didn't taste like egg and was virtually tasteless (no black salt and/or nutritional yeast used maybe?). For the topping, I opted for vegan smoked salmon made using carrots, which looked and tasted exactly like carrot to me, unlike vegan carrot salmon I've eaten in Korea that had a smoked seafood aroma... Came with a side of potato wedges. Overall it was quite original and the presentation was interesting, but it was disappointing in my opinion, perhaps because my expectations had been set too high by all the rave reviews proclaiming this to be the best ever vegan eggs benedict and indistinguishable from the real deal.
