Albert Heijn

Cookies 🍪 made with rescued #bananas🍌 New product at Albert Heijn, launched on April 30, 2024! 1.50€ per #cookie 🍪 They’re good! Crunchy outside, but soft inside, lovely #banana and #chocolate taste 🍫 #chocoholic

They’remade from rescued bananas from Albert Heijn's own banana chain. By processing these bananas into puree and combining them in a cookie with #darkchocolate, about 38,000kg fewer bananas are wasted every year.

By 2030, the supermarket wants 50% less #foodwaste compared to 2016. Bananas with a dent or overripe bananas are no longer burned, fermented or used for animal feed, but are now processed into #bananapuree. The puree is then processed in #cookiedough after which the cookies are freshly baked daily in the Albert Heijn- stores. This not only counteracts food waste of almost 38,000 kg of bananas, which are almost 200,000 pieces, but also takes a step in the field of circularity.

The AH Banana chocolate cookie was developed together with The Banana Factory and De Graaf Bakeries, available in over 1000 stores and costs €1.50.
