Review of Radical Rueben at Chicago Diner by acastillon
It's probably a good thing that I don't live any closer than 2 hours from The Chicago Diner. If I did, then I'd definitely lack the self control to restrain myself from subsisting on a diet consisting soley of vegan milkshakes and entrees from The Chicago Diner.
This Radical Reuben sandwich is incredible! Beautiful marbled rye bread bookends onions, peppers, sauerkraut, and a generous helping of corned beef-style seitan. The filling is piled high, and can be topped with vegan Teese cheese (highly recommended).
The Chicago Diner has been serving vegetarian food since before it was cool (Meat Free Since '83 is their slogan). They've definitely perfected their craft over the decades. Everything I've had there has been excellent.
I did buy the cookbook last time I was at The Chicago Diner, but I've never attempted to make this at home as the recipe intimidates me 😂
I might be going to Native Foods again next weekend . . . hoping to hit the Art Institute. There was an advertisement for Oatly vegan soft serve at the Cubs game, so I hope to track that down too 🍦 😋2 likesReply

Amazing that you have only been on abillion for a year, you have so many reviews! Great idea about finding old photos to review, I think I have a picture of the shake I got there back in 2017 :)1 likeReply
