I really liked the regular hard boiled Wunder Eggs. This deviled egg style was on sale, so I decided to try it out. I thought they were pretty good! They don't come with black salt like the regular Wunder Eggs come with. I'm sure there's black salt in the filling part, but I would have added more. I sprinkled a little paprika and chives on mine. I also added black pepper and sea salt. The salt was really good with them. These feel more like a party trick rather than real food. There are only six in a pack and they're fairly expensive for something that's not really filling. In my eyes, the best application would be for a nonvegan having a party with deviled eggs, but having a pack of these for the one or two vegan guests. If you wanted a whole platter of these it would get expensive. At that point, make deviled potatoes or some other finger food. These are a fun little experiment though! The packaging definitely feels like too much plastic. The vegan in my family (me!) and the one with the egg allergy both love and are amazed by WunderEggs! We were so stoked to see they released a deviled egg! 🥚 However, it’s close but not quite there. The deviled egg filling is made in collaboration with Fabalish Classic Vegan Mayo. I love when vegan brands collab! 🙌🏼 What didn’t do it for me: the taste and texture. Unlike their plain hard boiled eggs, this one didn’t come with kala namak to give it that eggy taste. I added my own, and also tried to spice it up 🌶️🌿🧄 with even more additions, like fresh dill, smoked paprika, etc. It was better once fancied up. On its own out of the package, the prominent flavors are mustard and vinegar. Maybe the texture was just a personal preference issue for me because I can’t do loads of condiments in general (when there’s too much slimy liquidy wetness 😝) and this definitely feels like a pile of mayo’s on top of your food. Pro tip: Don’t cut the hole in the mayo packet too large, or your swirl won’t be as pretty! I realized this too late.
