Being the only vegan in a predominantly non-vegan household, it was quite challenging to get my family to try out some alternatives, but I persisted anyway. Since ghee (clarified butter) is used rather generously at home, I decided to try out this plant-based ghee by a Bangalore-based startup called Live Yum. Surprisingly, it has a very similar consistency and taste to its dairy counterpart. So, as an experiment, I took my mom's help and prepared halwa using the plant-based ghee. (Pic 2) Thankfully, it turned out quite well and it was well received with all my family members! In conclusion, this is a great alternative to regular ghee and you won't be missing out the taste of your favourite dishes.
