I love this duck from planted and I have the feeling that they have found a perfect hole in the market, because there are very few mock duck alternatives on the market. I bought the 400 gr package and I froze it, then used half for a Chinese and half for a Thai dish - they were both delicious. The duck becomes nice and crispy if you allow the sugar to melt, I personally have found a new favourite of mine.

When I tell you I was blown away by this product 🤯 Yeah I think I probably found my favorite #planted product! As soon as we found out this existed we rushed to buy it, we even had to go to a different grocery store than usual because our regular Migros didn’t have it. The price is aligned to all other Planted products at 5.95 chf. The little strips have a great texture and the taste is very similar to duck even when they are plain, after they have been cooked with spices it was an amazing taste probably even better than actual duck itself! This is a great product to experiment all those tasty Asian recipes that unfortunately are duck-based. Even nutritionally it’s a very good product, like all Planted products after all. A novelty by Planted that replicates Asian-style sweet and sour duck - it is indeed quite sweet, so it's probably better suited for Asian recipes. I cooked it with several spices (bay leaves, cinnamon, anise, chili), leeks and red peppers, and then braised it in beer for about 1hr - replicating a Chinese recipe that I found online. Another positive note is that it doesn't fall apart when cooked for a long time. The nutritional values are really good as well. If you used to like duck I definitely suggest it, and I will be adding it to my meal rotation.
