RM3.50 for 225 mL from Nestle's Lazada store.

Interesting to try a dairy-free version of Malaysia's

national drink. There are ads for this product all over the place now; at the supermarkets, on billboards along the highway.

So, if you compare it with normal recipe:

Normal Milo 225mL
Protein: 1.9%
Fat: 1.7%
Carbohydrate: 10%
Sugar: 7%
Price: RM2.15 (on shopee)

Almond Milo (225mL)
Protein: 2.9%
Fat: 1.5%
Carbohydrate: 5.9%
Sugar: 3.7%
Price: RM3.50

So, more expensive than the normal recipe, but also a better nutritional profile. Low sugar % (for non-Malaysians here, Malaysia has a sugar tax in place for products >5% sugar. Milk products get >7% sugar because of lactose content).

Overall, the taste is exactly as you expect Milo to be. I enjoyed it, though I think the portion size felt a little small, ran out of drink very quickly. Compared to the normal milo, it's less sweet and more dilute tasting.

Not sure if Malaysians will consider this product to be a suitable replacement for Milo (because of price, sweetness, and thickness), but who knows? Nestle is promoting this product very hard right now, and Malaysians might accept a veganised version of the 'national drink'.

Vegan milo? I know I'm late to this, but I haven't had milo since

I went vegan which was 4 years ago! Do drink it cold!

I am reliably informed (by insiders, no less) that Nestlé regards their TAM for #milo

in Malaysia as 9 people for every 10. I am certainly that 10th person 😁

Yet I got this for several reasons. One, it used #almondmilk and I was curious about the difference. Two, I wanted to score a review here 😜 Three, I wanted to send a smug picture to all my friends who say I'm too atas/posh to drink this 😏

Well, I thought it tasted very flat and I wasn't impressed. But don't take it from me as I've spent my life preferring straight-up chocolate drinks and saying that #malt is for beer 😛 Try it for yourself; it's very accessibly priced. Especially the litre-pack, which you'll know about if you've been frequenting the Milo shelves like I haven't been 😏

“ew” - my girlfriend, 2021. I think it’s alright but it’s hardly Milo. It lacks

the sweetness and chocolatey-ness you’d expect 😒 This is why plant-based diets have a bad rep in Malaysia. People can’t stop confusing plant-based for healthy so they come up with products that taste like toothpaste foam. #dobetter #ditchdairy #ditchthis #veganin2021

I think it’s not bad for a first try for plant based milo — I

don’t think it tastes rich, creamy or chocolatey enough…

BUT with all that said, it actually has a higher protein content, lower sugar content and to me becomes perfect for a morning drink when I don’t want something too sweet and still has all the vitamins and minerals that I think a breakfast should have!

I do feel like I’m harsher because the regular milo was such a huge part of childhood and i have compared it to so many other malt-based drinks as well hahaha. If you get the chance, please try it! ☺️☺️☺️
