I wasn’t planning on reviewing this (if I reviewed everything, it would turn into a full-time commitment, since I eat so much variety, as I’m sure many vegans do). But as I was making this sandwich, the news announced that it was #nationalbaconday today, literally right after I layered these on top of my Just Egg omelette (leftover from yesterday’s breakfast)! It’s not often that I eat something unplanned that falls on its food holiday, so I figured that these are destined to get its recognition today. I like the taste and crispy texture, but it’s a little too salty (although it’s not overwhelming when combined with other foods, like in a sandwich. Surprisingly though, one serving, which is two slices, is only 13% dv of sodium. Maybe it’s table salt, since I find that table salt is extra salty, and need to use a lot less than what a recipe calls for with other types of salt. #nosaturatedfat #protein #breakfast #sandwich #bacon

My sister bought this for me for my annual Christmas visit to her place on Long Island, NY. I don’t know the price, but she got it from Fresh Direct, so it probably wasn’t cheap. I incorporated this ‘bacon’ into my vegan / plant-based egg and cheese sandwich at breakfast. One serving is 2 strips of this plant-based bacon, but I had difficulty getting the strips out of the package, so my sandwich contained four or five strips. Considering its salt / sodium content, I wasn’t too happy about it. Thankfully, it’s low in fat (a big plus for me!). I’ll have to be more careful tomorrow. The bacon crisped nicely in the frying pan and I really liked its taste, but not its look. Its look was somewhat offputting to me. I don’t think there are many options for plant-based / vegan bacon, so I’m quite happy this is available. There might be better options out there, but I would be happy to have this again
