This is my favourite field roast sausage flavour! The fennel flavour is well balanced and really lovely, not too overpowering. It's high in sodium but has a great amount of protein at 25g per sausage. I always crumble this up and add it to pasta dishes as the protein. I recently pan fried the sausage crumble and added it to lasagna soup and it turned out so epic! The sausage absorbed the sauce and became even more flavourful and tender. It was a hit with the family and we devoured it so quickly that I forgot to take a photo!

While I have my preferences, I haven’t yet met a Field Roast #vegansausage that I dislike — they’re always at least decent. Even though I hadn’t tried this particular flavor, I snapped up three packages (a dozen links!) when I discovered them as #groceryoutletfinds. Good call, too, as they were completely cleaned out on my next visit. This #sausage is quite #savory, especially compared to the sweeter apple and sage variety that I’ve eaten so much of. It’s very meaty-tasting to me, so I like that bits of #eggplant and red #peppers are still visible. The sausages are boldly seasoned, with #fennel seed, black pepper, and garlic standing out most prominently to me. These work well on a bun or chopped up and served with pasta. Super easy to reheat, as well. #lazyvegan I try not to eat these too frequently due to the high sodium content, but as #fakemeat goes, I feel like these are on the better end of the spectrum… the ingredients are, at least, recognizable. They were $2.99/pack at Grocery Outlet, which was a great price. It helps that these are OK to freeze/refreeze — they last ages! Recommended. (I realize that there’s ~5 duplicate entries for this product. I’ve reported them and hope they’ll get merged soon!)

I love Field Roast Italian Garlic Fennel Sausage. Tonight I used it in my homemade tomato sauce over pasta. I’ve not had meat in 8 years, and with my New York Italian upbringing sometimes I want to enjoy the types of foods I grew up with, sans the cruelty. It’s well-balanced in its spices, & the texture is that of meat. The only way to know that it’s the vegan variety is that lacks the casing. But getting past that is not a problem, a minor consideration, considering how delicious it is.
