This product is proof that my palate has changed since i went #plantbased 🤨 I remember the #soyprotein flavour being a lot more prominent when i first tried it compared to now 😳 It’s still there just not as much… or maybe it’s because @dafnelately is waaaayyy better at cooking it than i am 😏 which, honestly, sounds more likely to be the case 😅 From this early era of #mockmeat #vegancooking, you’ll notice the meals i prepared progressed to have more and more powerful dishes covered in other ingredients 😛 It seems that achieving more charred #veganrecipes bode better 🔥 I was most pleasantly surprised that this #mockmincedmeat also takes well to sweeter seasonings 😋 I believe this used to go for around RM50 but now it’s probably in the 60s now 😓 This is a prime choice for my vegan compatriots with a natural aversion to that #meaty taste 🤗 but not so much for the former near-carnivorous #vegan like myself 🫣 #veganisnotscary

Sadly my hometown team lost the Super Bowl yesterday… but on the bright side, the chili was probably the best I’ve eaten in my life. (Chili is not photogenic, but I’ve included a photo anyway.) I found this #fakemeat #vegangroundbeef at an incredible discount over the summer (just $1.99!,) and it’s been sitting in my freezer ever since, patiently awaiting its time to shine. #groceryoutletfinds It thawed with surprisingly speed, and it was really easy to incorporate into an omni recipe. I think it’s ideal for use in saucy or stew-like dishes, such as chili or bolognese sauce; the other ingredients help to disguise any #beyondmeat aftertaste. The texture is almost too convincing, and the #protein content is excellent, too! To me, it was indistinguishable from meat, and even my omni mom couldn’t tell the difference (and she’s very opinionated — she’ll absolutely inform me when she dislikes my food or finds it weird!) I plan on using this ground in all my future batches of chili, especially when I want to share my cooking with those who aren’t yet vegan.

Both Beyond Meat and Impossible have incredible products that I enjoy on occasion and especially like to use when preparing a vegan meal or spread for non-vegans. I have a preference for one or the other depending on the products and my “beef” or hamburger preference is Impossible. Since my preference this for type of product is Impossible, I haven’t had this latest (2021) formula of Beyond Beef before. I’ve always liked Beyond Beef, but most often opt for Impossible because of Beyond’s very specific and recognizable flavor. I feel as though the flavor lends itself well to a chili, tacos, burgers or other dish where a smoky flavor works — but is awkward for a meatloaf, meatballs, dumplings or others where this taste is distracting. I feel this latest version has tamed that “Beyond” taste to a degree. I did use this for a taco salad and burgers, though, rather than the dishes I’d typically avoid using it for anyway. It also seems as though the texture has changed a bit (perhaps to a reduction in fat). My preference for Impossible remains strong as I prefer the flavor and texture. If I’m trying to be more health or financially conscious I’m happy to use TVP or tofu for some of dishes that “beef” could be used for but when I want a showstopper for myself or others I’ll grab Impossible for the most part….though great to know that this product is now a bit less recognizably flavored as price may sometimes need to dictate the decision! I was lucky to get this at a great price, which spurred the purchase and revisit! $1.99 at Grocery Outlet #beyondmeat #veganbeef #groceryoutletfinds
