Review of Beyond Beef Plant-Based Ground 20G - Beyond Meat by beckyyy

Both Beyond Meat and Impossible have incredible products that I enjoy on occasion and especially like to use when preparing a vegan meal or spread for non-vegans. I have a preference for one or the other depending on the products and my “beef” or hamburger preference is Impossible. Since my preference this for type of product is Impossible, I haven’t had this latest (2021) formula of Beyond Beef before.

I’ve always liked Beyond Beef, but most often opt for Impossible because of Beyond’s very specific and recognizable flavor. I feel as though the flavor lends itself well to a chili, tacos, burgers or other dish where a smoky flavor works — but is awkward for a meatloaf, meatballs, dumplings or others where this taste is distracting.

I feel this latest version has tamed that “Beyond” taste to a degree. I did use this for a taco salad and burgers, though, rather than the dishes I’d typically avoid using it for anyway. It also seems as though the texture has changed a bit (perhaps to a reduction in fat).

My preference for Impossible remains strong as I prefer the flavor and texture. If I’m trying to be more health or financially conscious I’m happy to use TVP or tofu for some of dishes that “beef” could be used for but when I want a showstopper for myself or others I’ll grab Impossible for the most part….though great to know that this product is now a bit less recognizably flavored as price may sometimes need to dictate the decision! I was lucky to get this at a great price, which spurred the purchase and revisit!
