I wasn’t that hungry but I wanted to try one of Ippuku’s cakes, and these were perfect. They were light, slightly sweet and salty, and delicious. I didn’t get a matcha taste, just the rich chocolate, but I didn’t mind. It’s nice you get 3 - good value for money! Vegan mochi! I’ve wanted to find some #veganmochi for ages because I never got to try normal #mochi before I became vegan. I was not expecting the jelly-like, gooey, stretchy texture of the mochi (I don’t like jelly so it was slightly disconcerting). Despite that, I loved the flavour of the outside, and the sweet anko inside was even tastier! This is a side dish (fermented soy beans). I give the taste 3 stars because even though I’ve wanted to try this for ages, I couldn’t get used to the unique flavour, which is unlike anything I’ve had. I’m sure if I had it more I would like it better, and it’s supposed to be very good for your gut microbiome 🦠 The sticky coating is very stringy making it slightly difficult to eat with chopsticks. Ippuku Tea House is one of my most favourite restaurants! This Shougayaki dish is relatively new on their menu, and my dad and I both tried it. The pan-fried tofu in the sauce was divine, and I loved all the little side dishes (it doesn’t usually come with nattō - we got that extra). Everything was very fresh and flavourful, and their miso soup is light and refreshing. I love Ippuku tea house and the exquisite presentation of its authentic #japanese dishes. This #teishoku set was on its ‘specials’ menu, consisted of the usual components like delicious steamed rice, richly flavoured miso soup, and fresh pickled vegetables, and it also had some tasty seaweed and carrot. But, the #shougayaki mushrooms were my favourite part! The sauce had a nutty, garlicky taste, and the oysters were cooked perfectly. I can’t stop coming to this #cafe! 😂 This #hotchocolate was divine: so indulgent and creamy. They made it by steaming dairy-free dark chocolate into oat milk, so the flavour was very rich and not too sweet which I really liked. The cream was an extra 40p but definitely worth it (it tastes like marshmallows!) I hadn’t ever tried #umeboshi (paste made from pickled ume fruit) before, so I thought I’d try it! It had a very strong flavour that slightly reminded me of wasabi, but it wasn’t spicy. The #sushi rice was chewy and sticky, and the nori was flavourful and perfect for sandwiching the #onigiri. I might have preferred a little more filling, but overall I loved it! It also came with a small bowl of miso soup, which was flavoured perfectly and contained pieces of soft tofu and veg. #vegansushi #veganyork
