The heavy bar food is so good at Stanley's, but I wanted something a little lighter since we were going to a wine bar afterwards. I picked this Mediterranean wrap because hummus, tzatziki, and veggies sounded perfect. I was really happy to see vegan tzatziki here! The cauliflower was seasoned with curry powder, which was different, but wasn't totally clashing with the other flavors. The main issue with the wrap was the inconsistent temperature. This is another messy but delicious sandwich from Stanley's! This vegan Reuben is made with corned beets that give this sandwich a beautiful pink color! Just make sure you don't get this on a white shirt! It is also packed with sauerkraut, Chao cheese, and housemade 1000 island dressing on marbled rye. I likwd that the best flavor wasn't too powerful. It was a good, light "meat" that gave way to the creaminess and flavor of the other toppings. This was Stanley's entry for the Vegan Chef Challenge. It features a nice big portobello mushroom cap with teriyaki sauce, pickled red onion, kimchi, tomato jam, and arugula on a herbed focaccia bun. This was a juicy and messy sandwich! The mushroom was dripping teriyaki juice and the kimchi contributed as well I think! The flavors were nice. The kimchi brought some nice spice to counter the sweet teriyaki. I do wish there was more than just one mushroom cap. I've known about Stanley's and their wide vegan offerings for a while now. Trying their Vegan Chef Challenge entry was a good excuse to go at the end of August! These nachos aren't the entry, but they were a great starter! I've had the vegan nachos years ago at The Howe and loved them. The Howe and Stanley's have the same owners, so I knew I could trust the nachos here to be good! They used a cashew queso and some kind of plant based chorizo. I really enjoyed the chorizo. It has a nice kick to it that built up with this dish. The guacamole is a nice touch too. Like most nachos, the downside is that there are some very loaded chips and some very bare chips.
