Smoky Mushrooms

I looked up vegan spots before traveling to Chicago and was excited to try Fons. Their presentation is spot on. Cute logo and colored dough. The mushroom empanada was unevenly heated and a bit too salty for my liking. If I ever get it again I would try with the garlic sauce.

this one was another empanada that i liked! Get ready for a lot of empanada reviews! I've seen Fons on here and just loved the colors and the fact that they're a 100% vegan shop! I was happy to see a location just a couple blocks from the hotel. They open at 8:00, so it's a great breakfast option! This location is also super close to Millennium Park, so you have a nice venue to eat your empanadas in. We took ours just a bit further to Lakeshore East Dog Park hopeful to watch some dogs while we ate. Unfortunately that dog park is not very viewer friendly. We still had a nice time by the fountains. As a #mushroomlover I had to try the smoky mushrooms flavor! It has smoky mezcal-garlic mushrooms in a spinach dough. It had a nice flavor and I definitely tasted the mushrooms.
