It's not easy to find vegetarian nasi lemak because so many of the original dish's

component ingredients are just not vegetarian-friendly. So I've been hoping to try Greendot's version for a while, which I think was pushed out in conjunction with National Day last month.

Now, having tried it, I hope this makes it to their regular menu! It's an immensely appealing mix of very local flavours - from the sweetly spicy sambal to the crunchy 'ikan bilis' and the mini slices of spam (crispy and springy to the bite). The coconut rice is delicately flavoured, which I love - sometimes it gets too overpowering and rich, but this rice remains fluffy and light.

I ordered the nasi lemak with the basic main - a king oyster mushroom cutlet. Adds to the fantastic blend of textures to this dish. You can also switch out the cutlet for rendang (that would be the restaurant's trademark lion mane mushroom rendang, which is vegetarian and not vegan).

Do remember to get the king oyster mushroom option as that's the vegan one. Taste

is ok, otah tastes good. Comes with a small soup at the side too.

Part of their National Day menu, not sure how long this will stay but it's

really good! The cutlet is breaded king oyster mushrooms but the batter has no taste. Veggies were yum! The few pieces of "otak" were... interesting. The sambal is a bit weird but has some kick so I'm not complaining. Rice quite lemak so the foundation of the dish is there at least.

Rice is more on the bland side, but the "ikan billis" is nice! the "chicken"

batter/coating is not bad but the mushrom? inside is a little chewy. the dish comes with soup and carrot and corn. and i think this dish is only available for like takeaway/catering for min 10people

Had this during company training session. The portion seems small but it turns out to

be just nice. The cutlet is probably made of king oyster mushroom, nicely fried. The sambal taste great too! Love the spiciness and the light sweetness of the sambal. The soup is decent as well.
