Tender and juicy 'pork belly' cutlets in crunchy batter! These Japanese wheat gluten kurumafu are

pretty different from the seitan mock meats in Singapore; I believe they had to specially bring in the ingredients from Japan. I've ever eaten the version personally cooked by Veggie An Chef Tomoe at their Kagoshima Fair; this Greendot version came quite close, albeit not exactly the same as the breadcrumbs used were different. Unfortunately the accompanying tartar sauce was missing in our order (I went on the first few days of the menu launch so there might have been teething issues); I believe it would be tastier paired together with the dip! P.S. This is a new appetiser as part of the Greendot One Raffles Place x Veg-An collab menu Wazen! (Allium-free, $4.90) #sgvegan

Billed as vegan deep-fried pork belly, this has a nice qq, springy mouth feel when

you bite into it, That's about it though - it doesn't taste of much, and it's the accompanying tangy mayo that gives the dish any flavour at all. Shame that it doesn't try to approximate the taste as well as the texture of pork belly!
