We had these #taiwanese fried tofu bao burgers a while back while picking a place
to have lunch at in #porto. The burger had a block of fried tofu with fried crunchy onion on top, dikon, shallots and mango and red pepper chutney. We picked cassava chips as a side dish.
We were expecting something light but very flavourful, and unfortunately that was not the case. The bun was indeed very fluffy and light, but the tofu was a complete disappointment. After the first bite it seemed alright, but then the oiliness of the tofu became overwhelming. The tofu itself did not seem very seasoned either. The amount of oil was made worse by the fried onion and cassava chips. 😰
Overall not a good experience. If you have a sensitive stomach to oil, maybe this is not for you. I rarely feel like this is a problem when eating fried foods, but this case was different. Perhaps not a good choice on a hot summer day either! ☀️
