Two non-beef patties special sauce lettuce cheese pickles onions on a sesame-seed bun. F-yeah.

Walking into

Broxton you don’t really know what to make of it. The first building erected in Westwood in 1929, you are immediately confronted upon entry by a cavernous space with an impressive ceiling and ambient sounds bouncing around the air that almost instigate a sense of vertigo.

80’s rock fills the void and though it sounds like it comes out of a cheap walk-man speaker it wraps the ears like a comforting yet muffled familiar blanket. The beautifully constructed semi-circle bar draws you in towards the brew tanks and your hooked. Yes, they brew beer in a historical building and they know how to do it.

Part brewery, restaurant, and historical landmark the “Big Mohawk” stands out on the menu like another beacon of comfort. The ingredients strangely familiar, the name sounds like it means something but you don’t know why.

When it arrives your childhood arrives with it. Patties of impossible foods burger spread umami around the mouth while the pickles and special sauce throw you back to a childhood of begging mom to take you to the drive-through. Crispy lettuce adds the right texture to make you believe in spooky clowns and ham-burglers...over the course of the meal the buns disintegrate and your hands are covered in sauce and “cheese.” It’s ok. Excuse it gives you a valid excuse to lick your fingers and scrape the wooden plate with perfectly crispy fries...I’m home, and want to stay here.

Juicy, tasty, brilliant.
