Spring is here, and it’s time to finally dive into those New Year’s resolutions! It’s been a while since I last posted. Here’s a picture of Squeak, one of the rats currently in my care—soon ready to move on to a new family!

Last year, the rescue was filled with rats needing extra care, and with my own mental health taking priority, I didn’t have much time for art. But now, I’m creating again—and I can’t wait to share it with you all!

Alongside our rat-made paintings, we’ve captured more high-quality photos of the rats, and I’ve started digital drawing and cruelty-free taxidermy. The taxidermy and bone/skull art are created with rats who passed away in my care, honoring them through art. I know taxidermy isn’t for everyone, but it has helped me process grief and loss. As always, all profits go directly toward caring for the rescue rats

The presentation of the dish was great. Very pretty, just like the restaurant itself. The dish cost €12,50, and it's totally worth it. I was given the choice between white and brown bread, and also between normal mayo and truffle mayo. The avocado was nice and creamy, and everything on it fit perfectly with the overall taste. The service at the restaurant could use some improvements. The staff got very annoyed when we wanted to switch tables from outside to inside when the weather changed.

I sell paintings made by the rats to support my home-run fancy rat rescue. I got a lot of questions about how the rats make the paintings, which I understand. 😉 So here's some information about the rat paintings!

About the supplies:
The paint is vegan and non-toxic, so the rats can safely ingest it. The canvasses are small. I currently have 8x8cm. After the paint dried I add a coating for protection.

Why painting?
Rats are highly intelligent and easily bored. 🤓 They enjoy interacting with humans and can bond with humans just like dogs can. Painting is just one way to spend time together. It functions as enrichment.

About the painting:
They paint like shown in the video. Painting is done force free, which means that there's no force and no punishment involved. The rats can choose whether they want to join or not. Which is also why I cannot guarantee when a custom order will be finished/shipped. At the end of the video you can see Abigail signaling that she wanted to end the session.

This is one of the coolest things I’ve ever seen 😎
