On Thirsday evening, five of us got together on Kingston Bridge (London, UK) to protest the deer cull which is happening this autumn in Royal Parks: Bushey Park and Richmond Park. The deer are killed, supposedly to control more

zarreen Hi again
I got a detailed reply to my mail
Here's the reply

Dear Zareen,

Thank you for your email regarding the deer cull that takes place each year.

As a member of the British Deer Society, The Royal Parks takes deer welfare very seriously and all aspects of their welfare are monitored regularly.
Deer populations are actively managed to keep herds at a sustainable size, and to prevent overcrowding.
Without population control, food would become scarce and more animals would ultimately suffer. There would also be other welfare issues such as low body fat, malnutrition, high incidence of death from exposure to cold in winter and a build-up of parasites and diseases in deer.

The British Deer Society and the Deer Initiative of England and Wales fully endorse humane culling as best practice in deer herd management and The Royal Parks is an expert manager of enclosed wild deer herds. The deer in The Royal Parks are under veterinary
supervision and all aspects of their welfare are monitored regularly.

It is important to understand that The Royal Parks only undertakes humane culling for deer welfare reasons and not
as a way to make money. Money raised from the sale of the venison goes towards the cost of the Wildlife Officers we employ to look after the deer. The Royal Parks make no profit from keeping herds of deer in Richmond and Bushy Parks.

Across Great Britain deer populations are estimated to be at their highest for 1000 years. For this reason, there is little to no scope for relocation as an alternative to the cull. However, where the opportunity arises to move deer to other deer
parks we do so. Within the UK, contraceptives are not licenced for use in wild
herds and this is due to the difficulty associated with their administration and the resulting impact that ecosystems can suffer.

I do hope that this response reassures you that The Royal Parks takes the welfare of the deer we look after very seriously and use best practice methods to carry out culling within the herd.

Kind regards,
Beatrice Lines

ecovegangeek Hi Zareen, omg its always the same old nonsense! I'd say "since when does welfare include killing? Would you kill children too, for child welfare?"

Thanks so much for doing this, and sharing! 1 likeReply

This was delicious and filling. The BBQ sauce was very sweet. The dough was really good.

The Sound Lounge is a fully plant-based music venue with a bar and kitchen. It's a shame that it may close down soon, so id definitely more

Of course the straw is paper.

antonellaboschi Ciao nella precedente recensione ho letto che la cannuccia è di carta, (in questo ho letto che è in plastica) non lo è anche questa? 💚
Sembrano molto simili…
Io spero sia in carta… #plasticfree 1 likeReply
ecovegangeek Omg you're right! Thank you, I'll change it now! The whole point in mentioning the straw was that it's eco-friendly, so I'm happy! But I put the wrong word and said it's *not* eco-friendly! 🫢🤣Reply
