Rancheros Omelet at Vegetatebandita's Review (Jun 26, 2025)

This is a new garden cafe and I’m glad that it opened (aboutn a month ago) before my visit to #kauai . This place is mainly for lunch and breakfast and they focus on using #localingredients.

This omelet included a lot of variety…black beans, veggies, macadamia nut cheese, salsa, sour cream, a piggy-free sausage patty, and purple sweet potatoes. It was full of flavor, and I had plenty leftover to enjoy for two more meals.

Although this place is #100percentvegan, I think that it’s so tasty, that a non-vegan could enjoy it, but with proper planning. My friend doesn’t prefer places that are all vegan, but he tolerates some visits for me (as I also compromise with the awful smell of bacon and fish that I endure, his 2 favorite foods, at our resort). Upon arrival, he started off cranky, mainly because of being ill after a carne asada burrito the night before, and although a double dose of Pepto-Bismol helped him get through our morning helicopter tour, he still felt queasy and just wanted to eat and go back to the resort for some rest. So every little thing set him off, from finding out that you need to order by scanning a QR code, to thinking that there was only 3 food items (need to scroll down on their website to see more food), and then paying online where it asks you if you want to include a tip (which I feel is the norm, but he felt it was inappropriate). He ordered a coffee cake and bacon sandwich, and was curious enough to ask me what the bacon was made of. He was surprised when I told him that a lot of vegan bacon is made with mushrooms, but could also be soy or anything because everyone has their own recipe. I had a pretty good idea that he liked it because if it tasted bad, that would be an easy excuse for him to get upset again. So I asked him if it was good, and he simply said yes, which I think says a lot! Just a couple hours later, he felt better and we were able to continue our adventures. Honestly, I felt that this healthy lunch played a part with that. Unfortunately, it wasn’t so super good that I’d be able to convince him to go back with me someday if we ever visit Kauai together again. Even several days later, he reminded me how upset he was at this place, for the reasons I mentioned, not because of the taste of the food nor how we were treated. The waitress who brought our order was really sweet, and there was no denying to that. At best, I’d have to settle for takeout, which would be a shame to not enjoy in their cozy little #garden. It’s a cute little place that looks like a regular house (which is common in Kauai), and the seating is in the backyard.

I think that it would be so much fun to travel with an adventurous vegan, I love eating out with my vegan friends, where we always share our meals (not just a little bite), and we love #supportlocal at places that are all vegan. Maybe #abillion can come up with a way someday to link like-minded individuals to meet up for travel or to host some outings when someone visits their hometown. 😊

Since I’ll always remember this restaurant as having enjoyed it after breathtaking views from our helicopter tour, I will #ShareThatRainbow and some other views. #reviwwithaview #brunch
