Vegan Club at The Stray Dog — Iszy's Review (Jun 18, 2024)

I've been having people tell me I need to go to The Stray Dog for years. It's a burger place, but they have a lot of veggie options. Whenever I would look at the menu, I saw lots of vegetarian, but it was hard to tell if much could be made vegan. I met my family here before going across the river for the Stone Arch Bridge festival this week. Even on the in-person menu, it was a bit hard to tell what could be vegan. I wasn't sure if they had vegan mayo or aiolis. I saw this vegetarian club featuring The Herbivorous Butcher turkey, ham, and bacon. Before I became vegetarian, I loved club sandwiches! I was excited to see this on the menu, so I asked the server if it could be vegan. I was very happy to find out that they do have vegan mayo! I'd just go in willing to ask about stuff on the vegetarian menu. I'm sure most of it can be made vegan.

This club was great, but I have yet to find a club that really blows me away. I think what this was missing was the crispiness. I loved the HB meats, but the bacon should have been a different texture than the turkey and ham. I want crispy bacon on my club! Francis' bacon could do the trick! I was very happy they had vegan mayo. It was very important for bringing the sandwich together. I was a bit disappointed in the tomato. Tomatoes like these are why it took me so long to come around to tomatoes. It was definitely not very fresh. Next time I'll try a burger, since that's what they're known for!
