I've never been the biggest yogurt fan. I remember as a child my doctor kept encouraging my parents to get me into yogurt because I didn't like drinking milk and they were worried about my calcium. That didn't stick! In college I thought I'd try out yogurt again before I realized how expensive it was! Now as a full vegan adult, I've been experimenting here and there when I find it on sale. This Icelandic Provisions skyr pulled me in because it was heavily discounted at Whole Foods. Usually they're $2.50, but they were on sale for $1.50.
Skyr is actually different from yogurt, but they taste so similar I'm going to lump it all together. The heirloom Icelandic cultures used to make skyr don't give it that sour flavor that you'll find in yogurts. I've never really been a fan of that sour flavor, so I guess I'd have to say I like skyr more than yogurt! Skyr also has more protein than yogurt! These single servings have 12g! That's a great way to start the day.
This has a perfect, thick creamy texture. The peach flavor really came through and I love that it has full pieces of peach in it. I could definitely see myself keeping these on hand whenever they're on sale.
