Review of Minervois Rouge, 2020 - Château d'Oupia by iszy
While browsing the bottle menu at the Silver Fern, I saw Grenache and Syrah and knew my choice. This delicious wine from the south of France is exactly what I like. It's super jammy with a hint of spice and earthiness and it still has strong enough tannins to give it structure and interest. It was easy to share this whole bottle with @jonok on our date. Sometimes finishing off a bottle feels a bit like a chore, even with someone to help. This was absolutely not the case this time. I was surprised when we poured the final glass!
This wine is made up of 50% Carignan, 40% Syrah, and 10% Grenache from the Languedoc region of France. The grapes come from old vines, some over 100 years old!
