Plantdog at IKEA — david's Review (Mar 20, 2024)

In mid-2023, #IKEA introduced their new vegan #hotdog. It’s made with a realistic looking #sausage, a bun and their complimentary toppings that you add yourself.

The texture is realistic, and so are the looks! It even snaps! With animal-based hot dogs, there is usually a casing around the meat, which provides a snap when you take a bite. The snap of the plant-based hotdog is meant to mimic the snap and sensory experience of biting into a regular animal-based hot dog 🌭

It contains #riceprotein, #onion, apple, salt, pepper, and smokiness to give the plant-based hot dog a characteristic sausage flavour. And at the first bite I was impressed. Very sausage like. But after the second bite a strong wheat taste was present, and the sausage continued tasting like flour, even with condiments. Not so nice! Very cheap at 0.75€ though!
