BEST OF THE PACK
This is the third and last of the Yummy Gums I received in a three-pack after winning one of the #veganisnotscary challenges. Of all three, these make the most sense.
They are called “Vegan”, even if on their website they are no more available under that name and sold now as “Iron Vegan”.
But honestly, I do not like these treat-like food supplements because I am opposed to this phenomenon when products that should only be consumed with good sense and in full consciousness such as #foodsupplements are marketed, disguised and sold as sweets for adults or even children. If they were sold as a little pill instead, the sweeteners and all the other stuff to give them their oversized texture could simply be left out.
The recommended daily dose on this package prescribes 2 gummies a day. If you do that, you cover your needs in vitamin B12 and you get more than sufficient vitamin D3. All the other minerals in these gummies make some sense, as Iron, Calcium, Zinc and Iodine can be critical in vegan diets if these are unbalanced or if the subjects eat totally unconscious.
Taste/bite/texture: The gummies are soft, and in the bottle they are moist, a bit sweaty like, even at normal room temperature and they tend to stick together. The taste should be blackberries, and with some imagination, yes. They are only very moderately sweetened. They do not tend to stick excessively to teeth or gums.
Ingredients: The gummies themselves are simply potato starch and modified potato starch and a combination of coconut and rapeseed oil. So thank god no gelatine.
The colouring comes from fruit and veggie juices (good!): carrot and sweet cherry juices. So no artificial colourings. 👍
It is sugar free, however #maltitol and #steviolglycosides ( #stevia extract) are used as sweeteners. Stevia is pretty innocent.
Shape/Conditioning: 180 g single use plastic transparent bottle with 60 gummies. Supposing you’d have your 2 gummies a day, this bottle will last for 30 days. The bottle is plastic with recycled plastic being used to manufacture them.👍
The cardboard box that contained three of these bottles actively invited to recycle the cardboard, which is good (see picture). Security screw on lid, and that’s a good thing because kids might want to finish the bottle all in one day. Marketed and labelled as vegan.
Price: After a research on the internet, I found this bottle with 60 gummies costs around 21 €. Comparing that to the purchase of a bottle of B12 plus a bottle of D3 from another quality brand (Vegetology from the UK is my favourite), this price is market conform and has the benefit of some extra minerals as a bonus.👍
These gummies are made in the Netherlands.
I received these gummies as part of a three bottle discovery set as one of the winners in the #veganisnotscary competition. And as this was an intra-EU shipment I did not have to pay any customs duties. Once again thank you @abillion .

unejanie i agree with you. they are too much like candy. anytime i have them, i tend to overindulge. i prefer swallowing my supplements. i guess it serves a purpose for children who won't take their supplements otherwise or people who have trouble swallowing pills. 3 likesReply
