This was a good carbo loading meal. The pie pastry was a very nice balance of crusty exterior and soft inside. The filling was very mashed - a baby food consistency - which made it hard to distinguish what vegetables were in it. I would prefer a less processed filling with some al dente veg. Good freshly made potato chips/fries and tasty mushy peas. We ordered some sweet n sour pickle on the side. Very reasonable price £9.95.
Now this is the only dish on offer for vegans, but I am really impressed that they have one at all as it’s a dedicated fish and chip shop run to very high standards. The very friendly, entertaining waiter told me that the manager is a vegan and made sure there was a plant-based option on the menu. I’d love to know their story. Have they become vegan since working there?
We have family visiting from LA and this is one of their favourite restaurants to return to.
I can imagine more vegan dishes being added to the menu. Little by little a change is coming. 💚
