Review of Battered Plant-Based Fish Fillets - Trader Joe's by beckyyy

As one who usually shops at TJs weekly I’m always excited to see something new that’s vegan friendly, especially the more creative products. It’s also nice to see vegan meat replacements that are gluten free so those who need to avoid gluten may enjoy them.

The texture of these fillets was pretty good! It’s been quite a long time but it seems similar to fried fish. Unfortunately the flavor doesn’t match up. I couldn’t detect any fish/sea-like flavor. The flavor was coming from the batter. It doesn’t taste bad, but it’s kind of a generic “fried” flavor.

I made a quick tarter sauce and served these with that, but I think these may be better served in tacos with all the fish taco toppings. That way there would be less reliance on the flavor of the fish itself.

Unless you have an allergy or sensitivity to the ingredients or cannot find them, I’d instead recommend the Garden fish filets. ($5.17 for 10 oz).
