Review of Carne Asada Steaks - Meati by beckyyy

These were interesting to try. They are made primarily from mushroom root. The texture is noticeably different from soy, wheat and pea protein based vegan meats. It is softer and has less of a chew and pull. It’s not bad but it’s a bit different than what you might expect based on its look and experience with other meat substitutes. These were seasoned very well. The flavor was pretty nice. I shredded them up to use in tacos. The pieces browned nicely and they were tasty. I don’t think I would have found them very satisfying on their own as a “steak.”

I’m happy I tried these. I think they could work out well for some folks, especially those who may need to avoid other mock meats for allergy reasons. For me, it is a bit of a middle ground between a vegan meat and a veggie option and I think I’d rather choose one or the other.
