This is the future!! This vegan steak is made from mycelium (mushroom root) and has

a perfect texture in my opinion. This Meati steak has that protein structure that is a bit stringy, but it also has some elasticity that makes it chewy, instead of just falling apart like other vegan steaks. It really is the closest thing to meat texture that I've had. The taste is much better too. It doesn't have that aftertaste that meats made with pea protein sometimes get. Looking at the ingredients, it's pretty straightforward with just mycelium, seasoning, fruit and vegetable juices for color, and oat flour. We made some great carne asada quesadillas using Violife's Mexican cheese blend. Each steak has 17g of protein and an array of vitamins & minerals. Really the only other vegan steak I've had is JUICY MARBLES and I honestly think that this less expensive and more accessible option wins out. It was about $10 at whole foods, meaning each steak is $5. I think that's a pretty good price when talking about "steak". Just imagine how affordable this could be if we really scaled up mushroom farming!! #mushroom #myceliummeat #mushroomlover #carneasada #vegansteak #veganmeat #quesadilla #thefutureisvegan #wholefoods #protein #cabin

Pretty good steaks! The flavor was great but the texture was too soft it was

like as if someone really chewed up steak and spit it out and then seared it lol it’s been a super long time since I’ve had meat so I’m speaking from vague memory. I did really enjoy it still though topped with steak sauce from Whole Foods which is funnily enough labeled vegan 😅🙃

These were interesting to try. They are made primarily from mushroom root. The

texture is noticeably different from soy, wheat and pea protein based vegan meats. It is softer and has less of a chew and pull. It’s not bad but it’s a bit different than what you might expect based on its look and experience with other meat substitutes. These were seasoned very well. The flavor was pretty nice. I shredded them up to use in tacos. The pieces browned nicely and they were tasty. I don’t think I would have found them very satisfying on their own as a “steak.”

I’m happy I tried these. I think they could work out well for some folks, especially those who may need to avoid other mock meats for allergy reasons. For me, it is a bit of a middle ground between a vegan meat and a veggie option and I think I’d rather choose one or the other.

Purchased BOGO at Sprouts; $8.99 regular price

ridiculously close to actual steak meat! 😮 actually got this one at sprouts for free

with the digital coupon - what a steal as it’s priced originally at $10.99 i believe! so this vegan steak is interesting - the packaging says specifically that it’s made, not of mushroom, but mushroom root protein. it certainly passes the meatiness test. however the texture also feels a tad dry. overall not bad, 4/5 🌟🌟🌟🌟

This not just good, it's fantastic. I had to check the box 3x to make

sure it was meat free. I bought this in Wholefoods and will be going back for more. You must try
