Mirisata is an all vegan Sri Lankan restaurant serving up delicious and unique dishes bursting with flavor (and if you love spice, they have some dishes that bring the heat too 🌶️ ). Everyday they offer a different Rice & Curry platter that can serve between 1-2 or 3-4 folks. Today their curry was a Chickpea Curry that was sooo yummy and comforting. Their Chickpeas are simmered in a coconut gravy with onions, green chilies, mustard seeds, curry leaves, and rampe. Also included on this platter was ‘Deviled Sweet Potatoes’, which are Ash plantains stir-fried in coconut oil with onions, curry leaves, garlic, green chilies, mustard seeds, and cumin.
‘Collard Greens Mallum’ was also on the platter, which are finely shredded and lightly cooked with grated coconut, curry leaves, garlic, ginger, mustard seeds, and cumin
‘Masoor dahl’ was another highlight of this meal, tempered with onion, curry leaves, cumin, and mustard seed. The sliced tomato salad with red onions, green chilies, black pepper, crushed chilies, and lime juice is called ‘Takkali Sambol’, and it was pretty spicy 🥵 The yellow basmati rice cooked with rampe, coconut oil, vegetable broth, and saffron was of course delicious and served with ‘Papadam’: a crispy fried cracker made from lentil flour. This dish comes with the choice of coconut sambol or seeni sambal.
Next to this platter is a ‘Pol Roti’: a thick coconut flatbread that I highly recommend ordering on the side to enjoy with your platter. It’s chewy with delicious coconut notes. 🥥
