Bak Kwa by Angie’s Tempehxinru-t's Review (Mar 7, 2022)

Thin slices of tempeh made using organic and non-GMO soybeans. Had to be heated up, otherwise the tempeh was kind of raw and separated from the sauce. Air-frying the tempeh bakkwa helped the sauce caramelise and made the edges slightly charred. Friends, family, and myself found the sauce too sweet and lacking savouriness / smokiness; not sure if it's because we ate this in 2022 when there was a new allium-free sauce. Nonetheless the texture had a nice bite, and the product was high in protein and probiotics. Overall an interesting healthy snack, but expensive and somewhat overhyped since it was nowhere near bakkwa - a friend actually commented that it felt like a granola bar. Might try again in the future if the recipe for the sauce is improved! ($170.58 / 3 boxes during early bird promo)
