This is a tricky one to review- if you have had the privilege of experiencing authentic traditional hummus then this will leave you baffled and disappointed. If you are like most non-middle easterners though, and are blissfully unaware of what real hummus should be like, then this is for you. The hummus comes in a plentiful amount (the amount of bread given barely covers it so you’ll have to eat half of it with a fork unless you order more toast) drizzled in olive oil and sprinkled with hemp seeds and cilantro. The flavours are there and tasty in garlicky goodness. The texture is what lets this down- grainy, starchy and lumpy, not silky smooth and light. Again, if that doesn’t bother you, then great. The toast that comes with it (really, hummus should be paired with its soulmate (or Seoul-mate haha! I hate myself) flatbread and not brown toast) is also not in a traditional style that comes close to European brown bread. It is still a very Korean style of bread which is very white-tasting despite looking brown, and spongey-soft, with no discernible hard-baked crust. If you like this sort of bread, then great. Final comment- ignorance is bliss.
