Review of Silken Tofu Firm - Morinaga by sammartingano
Beautiful, smooth, silky textured, pure white, firm tofu with a mild flavour ~ making it perfect for any dish, including desserts.
Great nutritional content ~ low calorie, low fat, low carb, decent protein. Per 100g: 7.8g P; 2.2g C; 3.0g F; 276kJ/66kCal.
Does not require refrigeration until opened - The long shelf life makes it a great pantry staple.
The only drawback is the price - approximately R75.00 for 297g. I’m not sure if that’s because it is imported from Japan or sold at Woolworths (or a combination of both)
Ps. Nice that they include Recipes on the side of the pack.

mikejuliette We also bought this recently due to a stock out of GoodFu Fresh Firm Tofu at out local Spar @ R35. I found the texture a little softer than what I'm used to. The conundrum is where can you get silken tofu in this country. Silken tofu chocolate mousse is phenomenal 😋👌!Reply
sammartingano @mikejuliette Agree that this is quite “soft” for firm tofu, needs to be handled with care...but also makes it easy to blend into smoothies/shakes. I’ve never seen silken tofu anywhere either...or tasted it for that matter. You’ll need to share the Choc Mousse recipe if you find it 😁Reply
