This meal was free as part of the community kitchen initiative run by the amazing staff and volunteers at #thesoundlounge. Local growers and allotment owners donate surplus vegetables to SL and they in turn create a free community meal that anyone can enjoy with them. Every single Thursday! ☕️😍 Love this place! Wish I lived closer. They source their oat milk from organic farm 60 miles away. The #coffee beans are also locally sourced but I can’t see how that’s possible. 🤔 It was a very nice #decaf #oatmilk #latte. They charge 25p extra for decaf and have a special way of using their coffee grounds to dispose of them in a responsible manner I read. ☕️🍫 I’d seen so many reviews of cake by @vegansuttonmama here that I was determined to get one. When the options were very few at the start of the day and the place was filling up I staked my claim on this #chocolate #coffee #cake. Super reasonable at £3.50. Unfortunately it must have been sitting out for days as it was hard on all sides and quite dry. If this had been fresh I’m sure it would be great. The icing was still really nice. Cute presentation with the coffee beans too. I should have gotten a hot dessert but I also didn’t see the dessert menu till I was leaving. They had a hot sticky toffee pudding I should have tried. Doh. I’m determined to come back like once a month or so to try to make the most of it and support this awesome venue. They compost most of their food waste and grow lots of their own food or source it locally. 🤩🌱 Fully #plantbased venue. It’s a music venue that also is #veganrestaurant. This #sundayroast was out of this world. It had Redefine Meat 🥩as the main in a horseradish turnip purée which was awesome. I loved the Brussels, cauliflower cheese, Yorkshire pudding, and Dijon swede mash. Great to have tenderstem 🥦broccoli and green 🫛beans for the nutrients too. There was a pot of gravy on the side. The attention to detail is impressive. This is a place I’d like to come every week and eat everything on the menu. The staff was great too. They also have a record store in the corner and bar if you’d like drinks. @vegansuttonmama is a big fan and/or lucky local so I’m very jealous. Just look at it! This isn’t streaky bacon rashers with hand cut chunky chips, housemade special beans and Richmond vegan sausages. Served with your choice of toasts (I went for sourdough as I love the crunch (which are all my by a local baker) but you can choose from white or wholemeal too). Vine tomatoes, spinach and minted peas. They’re not joking when they say large. There’s so much going on with the plate that I didn’t know where to start. Everything was cooked perfectly and tasted so fresh. Have been meaning to try the Sunday roast for years and finally made a reservation. Yes, make a reservation! Because the Sunday roast is so popular that it’s pretty much impossible to walk-in and have a meal without one. Every table to in use when we went. And it’s easy to see why. The roast was spectacular. A meaty Wellington slice and homemade Yorkshire pudding served with roast potatoes and lots of seasonal vegetables. Topped off with freshly made herb and vegetable gravy. It was the best vegan roast we’ve had. I dipped this beautiful biscuit into my oat latte and felt like I’d been transported to Italy! It was perfectly baked, crisp and crunchy and ever so absorbent in the coffee. Similar to the chocolate chip muffin but this one has a vanilla sponge with chocolate chips inside as well as the icing on top. These freshly baked muffins have super soft, moist sponge. Creamy icing and a decent amount of chocolate chips on top. My daughter loved scooping off the chips and icing from the top.
