This consisted of tofu seasoned with Jamaican herbs and spices and cooked in a richly flavorful brown stew gravy with fresh veggies, rice and red beans cooked in seasoned coconut milk, tender seasoned cabbage, red and green bell peppers, and onions, and fried ripe, soft, sweet, caramelized plantains. This consisted of tofu seasoned with Jamaican herbs and spices, cooked with fresh veggies, and served with rice and beans, and fried sweet plantains. This was a well-rounded meal in which all of the components complemented each other. The jerk sauce had some heat, but even if you’re not into spicy food, we recommend adding some of it to the grilled tofu. Unlike some spicy sauces that seem to get hotter the more you have, we found ourselves adapting to this one. The rice and beans were cooked in seasoned coconut milk and were especially satisfying.
