Thunder Tea Rice (Lei Cha)

Nutritious and delicious, a great option for lunch breaks! 😃

The tea is nutty with a hint of saltiness and minty. One of the best tea I have when I eat Lei Cha. The treasure rice is refreshing and the veggies and peanut adds a nice texture to the rice.

To make vegan, please request without the heibi shrimps! Wasn’t expecting to have leicha so only 1 lunchbox with me and rice/veg portion had to be packed in styrofoam box ☹️ Always ready to try new LCF, and this looked promising from the storefront - apparently featured on public media, & loud declaration on the less oil, salt, no msg! 👏🏻 DISCLAIMER: taste ratings are only for the rice/veg portion bc I don’t do the paste 😬 my mum always eats that for me since she enjoys. Literally opposite of me 😅 Unfortunately, there was no standout for me for all the various veg… Taste-wise, perpetually felt there was something lacking in the dish, until I added my own green Chilis to zest it up and amp up the flavour. But definitely prefer adjusting the flavour on my end instead of salvaging an overly salted, or oily dish. I suspect this lack of flavour profile might either be from my own omission of salty heibi or the tea paste. If you are like me and don’t take the tea, you might also find this LCF pretty dry. I suppose my own criteria for a good LCF is veggie toppings that can stand its own ground(in terms of flavour and texture, and melding well all tgt) with the rice. So take my review with a pinch of salt!! As only the tofu pieces provided more chew to this dish, I definitely felt there could have been more of its portion. And less of the mani cai which was the most salted of the various veg. Overall, a pretty substantial portion for $4 (+$0.50 if you choose brown rice like me, +$0.20 if takeaway) and definitely one of the most affordable leichas I’ve seen around. So no complaints bc I still get my variety of veg in a single bowl! Better a LCF option than none at all 🙃 Just wouldn’t be a place I’d specially come back for 😟 #veganisnotscary

Love every component of this bowl (asked for no peanuts). Flavourful, nutritious and so satisfying. The tea was on the lighter side. Do ask for no shrimps as it will be added by default. $4+$1 for extra vegs
