GREAT BEANS FOR LITTLE MONEY I classified this review under the existing Italian name, however the product is called "Bio Borlotti" over here in 🇧🇪. In general I prefer dried beans. I can buy them in bulk, without packaging waste. But, from time to time it happens that I buy canned beans, especially when they are on sale for an interesting price. Beans are vegan superfood, even if in the mainstream omnivore Western diet they have almost disappeared. What a pity. We have all to win when we reintegrate them to our diets. And that can be very easy, see the recipe down below. Taste/bite: These Borlotti beans from Valfrutta are soft and have a rather neutral flavour. Ingredients: Organic Borlotti beans, cooked, and salt. With 7 percent of plant protein, 13 g of carbs, hardly any fat and almost 6 g of fiber per 100 g, just to cite some of the benefits of beans. Shape/Conditioning: Standard 400 g can with a label in recycled paper. The leaked out weight is 240 g. The label explicitly boasts the absence of synthetic chemicals, pesticides, herbicides and GMO’s. This is proof of ethical and environmental responsibility. The cans are sold per two in a cardboard envelope. Price: I paid something like 2,99 € for two cans (April 2023). Really cheap price for a good organic staple like this. The brand is Italian. The products of this cooperative that groups over 14.000 farmers are mainly sold over here in organic & natural food stores. www.valfrutta.it Here is the recipe for a quick creamy sauce/dressing made with beans. I have shared it before in a post but it seems useful to paste it here too. The Borlotti beans are an excelllent choice for this recipe. But you could also use other cooked beans, like white beans or big juicy butter beans. 80 g to 100 g of canned or cooked #borlotti #beans, drained and rinsed 20 g of #cashew nuts, briefly soaked in warm water, rinsed 2 tablespoons of #nutritionalyeast 2 tablespoons of white (shiro) #miso paste 1 teaspoon of #balsamic vinegar black #pepper, generously about 120 ml of water Throw all the ingredients in a blender and mix until a creamy white dressing results. Thanks to the miso paste, the nutritional yeast, and the salt in the canned beans, no extra is needed, unless you want more. #beans #italianbeans #borlottibeans #veganitaly #veganitalian #vegan #veganinbrussels #brusselsvegan #veganinbelgium #veganbelgium #veganfortheanimals #veganforhealth #veganfortheplanet #veganforever #veganisnotscary
