🎄 We got this Tofurky #veganroast to try for #christmas. 🦃I’d seen mixed reviews but we didn’t see many options in our stores either. Turns out we were looking in the wrong places in Sprouts and there were loads more there for cheaper too. We got this in Publix for $15. It’s supposed to serve 5. I’d read that you should follow the directions carefully to get it correct. We cooked it for 15 minutes longer as it wasn’t quite the recommended temperature. It was quite rubbery though while still looking and tasting nice. I liked the gravy too but it was very gelatinous. It’s a healthy choice but I wouldn’t rush to get this again if there was another option to try. It’s cool how there is stuffing inside and gravy included. #lazyvegan it’s full of #protein at 33 grams a serving. #festive #veganchristmas 📅December 2024 🥕Yuka: 🟢Good 72/100

DO NOT BUY THIS!!! I wish I could’ve given it 0 stars. We bought this bc we couldn’t find our fav Gardein Holiday Roast anywhere. Since Tofurky is one of the oldest vegan companies, I thought this would be decent. Boy was I wrong! First of all you get a tiny roast for the $15 price you pay. Comparing it to the Gardein roast which can feed up to 8 ppl, this can maybe feed 3/4. It smelled gross. The meat was rubbery and you couldn’t even chew it. My poor kid was trying to chew it and eat it. I told him to spit it out! The rice stuffing inside was ok but the smell overpowered it. The gravy was gross too. We couldn’t eat it and ended up throwing it away. Luckily I had enough delicious sides so everyone filled up on sides for ThanksVegan dinner. If a nonvegan ate this and never had any vegan meat/roast, they would never go vegan. Whoever created this and approved it as “good” needs to fired immediately bc they have no taste. 👎🏽👎🏽

i’m not sure if this is a common thing, but for how large the box was i was a little surprised at how small the roast was! that being said, it was pretty dense and filling for how little it was. (i usually have the gardein roast, which i feel serves more than this one does.) the flavor of the roast was enjoyable to me, and it smelled/tasted similar to their deli meats. i did feel like it was a little bit dry and the texture was less realistic than the other roast i’ve had, but that can be fixed with gravy! the filling also escapes while slicing, but i didn’t have an issue with the slicing itself. overall this wasn’t my favorite roast, but i felt the need to have an authentic and original tofurky experience since it was the original roast!

Usually I go with a breaded roast, but this year I wanted something that would fit in my little Dutch oven so it wouldn't take up too much space in the host's oven. I was excited to try this OG roast! It was fun creating my own baste. I used hot water, Better Than Bouillon no chicken base, soy sauce, olive oil, black pepper, rosemary, and dried minced lemon peel. I had it in the oven for 75 minutes and brushed more baste on every 15 minutes. I added parchment paper under it so the veggies could be seasoned differently and wouldn't simmer in the baste. For the veggies I used purple carrots and parsnips. I didn't end up using the gravy it came with because @jonok made a delicious mushroom gravy I'd rather try. I'll probably just save the gravy for the next time I make potatoes for myself. I really enjoyed the stuffing. I could see it had wild rice which is a favorite of mine this time of year. #veganmeat #veganroast #veganturkey #blackwildrice #veganthanksgiving #gravy #stuffing #festivefeast #veganholidays #veganisnotscary
