#pillsbury #pizzabread #vegan #veganisnotscary #highiniron #crescentrolls I picked up 4 packages of Pillsbury Crescent Dough at No Frills (on sale for $2 each) to make Garlic Pizza Bread - a recipe I found on Instagram. Here’s the link - https://www.instagram.com/reel/C0Hr9oSvSGi/?igsh=bmVpaWhhYnl5MGcy. I made the same recipe a few weeks ago, but at that time I used Pillsbury Pizza Dough instead. It turned out really well, so this time I thought I would use a different type of Pillsbury dough. It turned out just as well!! I was surprised to see that this crescent / croissant dough is vegan. So I decided to use it as a substitute for ‘regular’ pizza dough that’s called for in the recipe. I veganized the recipe to use plant-based / vegan cheese and pepperoni. I also added some plant-based ground, chopped onions, red peppers, oregano, basil and pepper seeds. To get the pizza dough chunks, I simply laid out ripped 4 rolls into pieces. The recipe turned out absolutely wonderfully. The pull apart pizza bread was soooo good! I just baked it in the oven at 450° for about 18 minutes or so. Naturally, I ate more than I should have so my caloric and sodium intake for dinner was through the roof. Surprisingly, there’s not much fat in this product, and a descent amount of fibre and iron. I will definitely make this recipe again with this Pillsbury product.

i am happy these are vegan! while they certainly aren’t any bakery style product and aren’t the most flakey/buttery, i appreciate this childhood staple for what it is. i also appreciate it for how quickly it bakes in the oven! there are baking instructions on the package that are pretty accurate, and i find them to be delicious when making pigs in a blanket. again, these aren’t any super fancy product , but they’re definitely a solid purchase and i enjoy how versatile and generally useful they are. tip: while the roll serves 8 (i think), i cut each longer triangle into two longer triangles to make twice as many mini rolls for my pigs in a blanket. works perfectly with a pack of light life hot dogs! (because they have 8 and i cut them in half😇)
