Pretty convincing #fakemeat — I started mildly panicking during dinner because the texture and flavor reminded me so much of chicken. But fear not, it’s just good old, miraculous #soy! #veganisnotscary Nutritionally, it’s not half bad: it has a great amount of fiber and #protein (plus, it’s #glutenfree!) It looks like they’ve made an effort to reduce the sodium content over time, too. The pieces are lightly seasoned with paprika and some other basic savory spices. The chunks are firm and slightly stringy, as I remember chicken being; if anything, this vegan version is slightly juicier and more succulent. They are easy to reheat from frozen in a hot pan with the smallest amount of oil. I’m not sure if this was the best chick’n product I’ve ever had, but I was certainly impressed by its quality.
I would definitely recommend these and plan to pick up another bag if I can find one — this was just $1.99 as #groceryoutletfinds. At that price, it’s definitely a steal! Although the bag seems a bit small, I was able to make nearly four meals with it, so I’m pretty pleased overall.
