How do you deep fry a #watermelon, you ask? I have no idea! But it worked 🤤 This was the absolute winner of Pittsburgh #vegfest. The dough tasted just like a sweet donut and it was drizzled with a super sweet vanilla #icing. The watermelon inside was piping hot and gave a nice, unique texture differential to the dough ball. @lizmaselli wanted to split an order of 3, but I needed all of these to myself 😅 A little pricey at $10 but totally worth it. #sweettooth #deepfried #watermelonlover #pittsburgh

I FINALLY tried # DEEP FRIED WATERMELON🍉 their tag line: "sounds disgusting, tastes delicious." They have been at the last Vegandales, and we always miss out, so I was ecstatic they were going to be in Pittsburgh. #sweetdreamsaremadeofgrease So, these are Filipino inspired street food that takes fresh #watermelon balls, dips them in a sweet pancake batter, and deed fries them. They're also served with sweet icing. They literally tasted like heaven. You really don't taste the watermelon too much because the batter is so sweet. They're served pretty hot, and you get to watch them make your order. Kids would love it! These were definitely pricey at $10 for 3, which is expected at a vegfest. They also always have the longest line, but are still so friendly when they must be exhausted. This is a must check out if they're ever at festival near you! A chunk of watermelon fried in batter and topped with vanilla icing. Tastes like a donut with some light watermelon flavor and the texture is similar to one as well. Frying makes the watermelon less crisp- so the texture isn't off to me. One order came with three and its a filling snack. Very hot and fresh- nothing beats a dessert thats just been fried.
