Omgggggg 🤤 I went shopping down in the states yesterday and found some of Ben & Jerry’s new non dairy ice creams made with oat milk! I was never able to try their old recipes as they used almond milk and I am allergic, so I’m so happy they updated their recipes to be more allergen friendly! Chocolate chip cookie dough was my favourite ice cream flavour before I went vegan, and I’ve been looking for a solid vegan version for the last 5 years. I have to say, this might be it!! This has everything I was looking for: a creamy vanilla base, BIG chunks of chewy dough, and a good amount of chocolate chips. The ice cream itself is delicious too, doesn’t have too much of an oaty aftertaste. I saw a #benandjerrys new recipe in my local #target so wanted to give it a try, even though it's not a flavor I would normally go for. From the picture, it looked like there would be more chocolate or swirls in the pint, but it was mostly just #vanilla. If you like vanilla, this is fine, but I prefer more mix-ins in my #icecream. The #cookiedough chunks were nice and the ice cream itself was very #smooth and #creamy. Just lacking in taste compared to other flavors.
I used to love the non vegan cookie dough ice cream and was so excited when I found the vegan version. But this one isn’t as good. The vanilla ice cream isn’t creamy and flavourful enough. I wish they used oat milk or something else other than almond milk as a base. The cookie dough bits also are a bit crumbly and not as gooey as the non vegan one.
